For Ge Refrigerator Door Light Switch (Part Number: OEM18080337)

Mike for Model Number PFCS1PJXASS

My ice maker stopped working and have troubeshot it to the point where I believe there is no power going to the ice maker plug. The ice maker green light does not turn on and have verified no power with a multimeter. I also purchased a new ice maker and that does not work either. I pulled the electrical panel cover off and inspected the board and nothing obvious, no blown fuse or damaged board etc. Looking at the wiring diagram it shows "FZ DOOR INTERLOCK" that appears to be inline with the door switch. My question is does the door switch double as the interlock? Do you have any other suggestions I could use to troubleshoot? Thanks, Mike

Mike, It would be recommended to check the freezer light switch to make sure that it is good but if it is then the issue will be the main control board.

E.W.H. This appears to be the freezer door switch, it's a SPDT switch (single pole double throw). The common terminal is where the brown wire attaches, when the door switch is closed the circuit is between the brown and red wire terminals. When the freezer door is open the circuit is between the brown and blue wire terminals that allow power to the interior lights.

John, If the light is not going off then yes it can keep the unit from cooling properly. The damper door on the refrigerator side will close when the door opens to keep excessive moisture from flowing through the system.

Hello Edward, To remove the light switch you will need to use a flat blade screwdriver to almost pry it out. This is foamed in place and is difficult to remove. You would do better to check the light socket to make sure getting 120 vac to the socket.
