I took off the back panel inside the freezer and discovered the evaporator coils were a solid block of ice. The light switch was also jammed all the way up. I found a really helpful video on YouTube of someone explaining possible issues with a frig similar to mine, so I decided to replace several parts. It was obvious the light switch had broken down and also the defrost heater had turned mostly black, looked like there was no way it could be working. I decided to replace the defrost thermostat and temperature sensor in there as well since those were easily done. In the end, this older frig of mine is working better than ever and it was well worth the $125 I spent to do it. I can only imagine what I would have been charged if I called someone to take a look at it. And this did not take long to fix either. I spent the majority of my time just trying to first thaw out the coils and used a hair dryer to help speed up the process. From there, just some simple tools to remove the panel and then work on the wiring. I used WAGO wire connectors for replacing the temperature sensors and that made it a breeze. Overall, a great experience and totally satisfied with Appliance Parts Pros for getting me the parts I needed fast!
