How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2024962 / WB26X10038 Microwave Turntable Motor

Opened bottom of microwave, removed and installed new motor. Works perfect! 

Ordered a new turntable motor 

An online search revealed these gear motors fail a lot in microwaves. Pulled the microwave from the cabinet (its a built in unit) and found they had thought ahead and pre-punched an access panel into the bottom. The old motor was not labeled, but they all are pretty much the same, and this one looked just like it. One simple phillips screw and the replacement was in place - literally a 2 minute job. Works like a champ now. 

5 minute fix...unscrew bolts under microwave replace new part and done 

Replaced the turntable motor. Easy to do by removing the 6 screws on the bottom of the microwave. the bottom is hinged so that it flips down for easy access to the motor 

I looked up possible solutions if there were any and read how to disassemble the microwave hood item from the bottom by the filters. When I realized I could easily replace the motor for about $50 instead of a new microwave for $250+, I took a chance and ordered it. The item arrived in under 24 hrs from a few hundred miles away and was replaced in under 10 minutes. I am thrilled with it now.
