How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2045290 / WH2X1199 Hub Washer

Installed new mode shifter/shaft assembly. Submitted online order at 10:30 am on Tuesday and the part arrived at 12:30 pm the next day. Outstanding service. 

Replaced the tube bearing and seal, problem fixed 

Will not agitate and not finish cycle need to switch machine to pump out water and repair ! Job is more difficult than others suggested center shaft nut needed 1/2” impact gun with socket to remove nut with plenty of penatrating oil and patience’s not you average persons easy job ! 

I ordered every part involved and some that weren't. removing the hub nut required a 1 11/16" socket and used my impact wrench. the tub didn't lift out as easy as the video shows, I had to soak the hub and shaft with "Brake Clean" over night to get it to come loose. reversing the procedure was easy. 

Found that the Shaft & Tube Assembly was shot (shaft wobbling). Replaced the shaft and tube assembly (including the tub seal). Also opted tp replace the Hub Nut, Tub Bearing Split Ring, Tub Bearing Washer, Hub Washer, and Drive Belt to bring the complete drive back to new condition. The tub bearing proved difficult to pry out from on top so I drove it out by hammering from below using a wooden handle that was of the correct diameter. 

Rebuild the bottom half, and I noticed the seal on the tub cover was damaged. I was pleased on the delivery time of parts, with only a two day down time, Thanks 

Replaced upper bearing first. Took 5 hours due to difficulty removing the inner drum (used 2x4 and jack from another youtube video to get it out). Then accidentally broke the barbed nipple off of the outer drum removing the drum and had to drill and thread a new brass barb fitting in. Be careful when removing the outer drum. It still was loud, so I ordered the shaft and seal assembly. Knowing what to do now, it only took 2 hours and the problem was solved. The AppliancePartsPros videos are amazing. I did buy the washer nut tool and had a 90-inch lb torque wrench. Other than that standard tools. 

Replaced tub bearing and seal. 

With parts purchased from Appliance Parts Pros and watching their videos to make sure I got everything hooked back up correctly. I replaced the bearings, seals, washers and tub dampers, all four of them. I had to use a hydraulic jack and straps to get agitator out. Also a three pound hammer and block of wood to get the tub free. Our washer was purchased in 2008 and never had been apart. Once back together, I tested it with no leaks and a heck of a lot quieter. We washed four loads and are quite pleased with it. 

Replaced tub seal gasket. Followed video closely (Thanks!). All was fine until reaching the tub nut which simply could not be removed with the tools available (including the suggested spanner wrench). Ordered a replacement for the nut and drilled holes in the frozen one until I could break it. It was then easy to remove the spin basket and get to the (rather obviously degraded) tub gasket. Replaced that and rebuilt the washer (using the video again). Was testing when I realized the lid switch was missing. I think the video omitted that detail on the reassembly! Removing the front panel allowed me to remedy that. Roughly $50 in parts/tools and all of my spare time over several days. Washer seems to be working fine after 6 loads.
