How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP8056060 / WH12X10614C Main Control Board (Machine Electronic Control)

My GE model GHWN4250D1WW washing machine would stop running, usually during one of the fill cycles. Often it would stop during the initial fill within a couple of seconds after pressing the start button (all 5 of the status lights would turn on), but sometimes it would stop further into the wash cycle and I’d return to find the tub full of water. Replacing the main control board for the washer fixed the problem. The repair was very simple, following instructions in the video. I transferred an electrical jumper wire from the original control board to the new board. There was no mention of this in the video but I did it to make sure the old and new boards were connected identically. 

We thought we ordered the right parts. We didn’t but a nice man at AppliancePartsPros.com helped us with the return procedure and helped us pick out the correct part. Highly recommend. 

Read several troubling shootings reviews, they all seem to be the same! The machine never follows the cycles or settings. Replaced the Control Assembly fine...so far so good. VERY HAPPY! 

Replaced the circuit board in the GE washer. 

Removed three 1/4" hex head screws from the back panel, tilted it toward the front of the machine, and slid it to the right to remove the upper front panel. Two 1/4" hex head screws and the wire clip holding the fill tube. Carefully remove fill tube from water valve. Then reverse the procedure. The control assembly had 5/16" hex head screws, three for the dials and a nylon bracket aligning the left side of the control arm and the right side with two 5/16" hex head screws with four plug-ins. The fifth plug-in with the wire loop on the top has to be used from the replaced assembly, being careful not to bend the pins. The control assembly needs to have the dial controls inserted into the assembly when reinstalling the board. Patience. 

Replaced the electrical panel with a new one. Went smooth no issues. We are back up and running. 

Replaced control Asm and tested. Easy breezy lemon squeezy. Just reminder to move the jumper from old Asm to new Asm. 

Checked for codes, none. Ran electrical tests listed it threads. Found no flashing light signal from control unit. Did voltage tests, no fluctuation of voltage at wire. Replaced control unit. Same issue. As long as I was ordering parts, lid switch and the drive belt, which was 6 years old. It came off very easy, where as the new one was a pain to reinstall. So far, so good. When it would stop, there was a a hot rubber smell (old belt?). I don't usually use the shotgun repair method, but when the suggested repair didn't work, I went after the simple stuff. The staff was very helpful steering me in testing components and wiring systems, and I thank them all for there help!

Replaced the control assembly. The order was delivered ahead of time and with no problems.
