Alan G Slidell , LA September 23, 2015 Appliance: Maytag 30" Electric Freestanding Self Clean Range Convect Ove MER6765BAS18 The cancel button on the panel for the upper oven had quit working and the overlay had cracked due to extra pushing to get the button to work I ordered a new panel and overlay from Appliance Parts Plus. The overlay was backordered which was a little frustrating but it came in at most a week later. The replacement was simple. All the plug ins were easy to remove and plug back in. The overlay fit right in place. Don't know what it would have cost to have an appliance repairman do the job but I am sure I saved hundreds. Oh yea, the wife sure is happy. Kenneth B Paso Robles , CA April 07, 2018 Appliance: Maytag 30" Electric Freestanding Self Clean Range Non-Convect MER6755AAS26 Both ovens and the clock went out "on indicator" had been on for years fixed! This unit is just shy of 10 years old. Installing the new control panel was pretty easy and that took care of the ovens and clock. Be aware that the actual front that you normally see is a semi-sticky decal and you either need to buy a new one or carefully remove the original and reuse it (what I did). Upon examination I could see black hazy residue on the inside of the control where I assume a component fried. I was determined to fix the on indicator while I had it apart. The new indicator light did not solve the issue. The indicator is wired in series with all the burner switches and the "hot surface" light. I had a new burner switch from when I tried to repair it previously. The root issue here is finding out which switch is shorted since they're all in series and inaccessible with the volt meter unless removed. I got lucky this time and noticed one switch was blackish on the inside. NOTE: There are two different switch part numbers (2 of each = 4) so you have to really purchase one of each to be sure you have the right one available. I had the right one and replaced the one that looked suspect. Both the on indicator and hot surface lights work properly now. The other choice is to remove all burner switches and test each port (blue wire) for short to ground when "off". Be careful! You should be able to do this with the power disconnected. Read More... William P New Carlisle , OH February 03, 2017 Appliance: Maytag 30" Electric Freestanding Self Clean Range Non-Convect MER6755AAW25 Upper oven fried lower heating element and control panel "more" button We watched your repair video and fixed it the same way. Hardest part was pulling out and pushing back the stove unit. Very disappointed in the original design of the push button control panel, Apparently the contact is a very small plus symbol that had shifted out of alignment with the circut board switch. So, the old unit is also fixed and sitting as a back up. The repair worked just like the video and was very smooth. The contact shift was just some tweezer action to correct. Read More... Allen H Pepperell , MA December 23, 2016 Upper oven would not maintain heat it would heat up at the start to say 350 but would not refire to keep it there The control panel was the problem and after watching your "How to" it was easy. Happy wife, happy life! One thing I would recommend is a magnetic screwdriver. Drop one of the board screw down into the back of the oven and it won't be fun finding it! Read More...
