How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4440606 / 5231EL1003B Dryer Lint Filter

Simply replace the filter!

There was a link on the website to a video for a "how do this repair". This video was absolutely spot on. He started with a description of what the signs would be if this part was failing. When he described how it would sound if this part was failing, he described what my dryer was doing perfectly. I followed his video precisely and completed the repair in thirty minutes! The only problem was that I had to do the repair twice! (I LEFT MY FLASHLIGHT IN THE BOTTOM OF THE DRYER THE FIRST TIME AND HAD TO DO EVERYTHING AGAIN TO GET IT OUT!!!!!) I have used the videos on this site two times before and they were great on the other repairs also. I'm thinking of changing jobs to become an appliance repairman. :) 

New lint filter. 

After diagnosing the issue as a bound-up drum support roller, I initially removed the wheel itself from the fixed axle, cleaned off the accumulated lint & hair, added some molybdenum grease (not lithium which dries out in hot environments), and re-assembled the unit. That fix proved to only temporary, sadly, but I had ordered 2 replacement rollers in any case. The faulty support roller was at the back of the machine, which requires almost twice as many steps as replacing the front rollers, so I replaced both rollers at the same time and kept the second original roller as an emergency backup. 

I took apart the dryer and found missing socks in the vent motor, which spins to shoot out the lint thru the back. Once I took apart the dryer I saw several socks caught in the turbine that spins. It was not spinning at all, I carefully removed the socks and tried spinning it. It worked. So I ordered a new lint filter and cover. Once the parts arrived I put everything back together and my dryer is running like brand new. I couldn't of done this without your excellent video's and help from your staff. Thank you so much appliance parts pros !!!!!! 

Replaced rollers (all four) very quit now, operates like new . Took more time to disassemble and assemble than expected. Replaced Thermistor and Thermostat assemblies drying appears to be better. easy installed Replaced dryer vent lint filter easy to install drop in. The issue was the dryer filter was not catching all the lint, lint was built up in the dryer vent fan and exhaust duct in the dryer, had to clean vent fan, duct in the dryer. Poor design filter seal and vent system. Will have to disassemble in the future to ensure fan and duct is clean ( will aid in drying time) 

Took out old one and put in new one (tough job) 

I bought a replacement lint trap. 

So i got online with appliance parts pros. there website worked flawlessly and i ordered the parts , they arrived the next day and i had the dryer up and running in an hour. totally plleased.
