How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4439448 / 6549W1S011B Turntable Motor (Synchronous)

Pulled it out, found you on the internet, ordered the part (arrived the next day), put it in, done! 

We bought this microwave second-hand for $15. The original owner apparently donated it to a thrift shop because the turntable stopped working. Trouble shooting was fairly easy. By opening the access door under the microwave, I was able to easily remove the turntable drive motor. (I had to break the access plate loose from the stamped frame by prying lightly with a screwdriver, since it had not been removed previously). The motor came loose from the microwave by removing a sheet metal screw and turning the motor to disengage its flange from the frame. By briefly cycling the microwave with the motor turned on, I could easily inspect that the drive shaft was turning. However, the fitting that engages the turntable was stripped and stayed stationary. Since the fitting could not be ordered separately, I ordered and installed the motor assembly. Switching the plug from the old to the new motor, and reinstalling in the frame took about 10 minutes, including looking for a sheet metal screw to secure the access door. The microwave now works perfectly. 

I replaced the motor and turntable assembly on the unit for a fraction of the cost from Sears. Motor and turntable assembly broke after 3 1/2 months. Ordered new parts because it was cheaper than a new microwave. Parts arrived and turntable assembly was the wrong one. Customer service was extremely helpful and sent me a new turntable assembly and gave me a credit for the new parts because they have a 12 month guarantee on parts (which I did not realize). Kudos to Appliance Parts and their customer service.
