How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP6800730 / AGZ72909711 Pulsator Assembly

I ordered a new pulsator assembly, watched the provided video and easily replaced it. It was a very easy fix thankfully to the information provided. 

Removed the center cap with a shop pic, which will expose the bolt to the pulsator. Then I removed that bolt with a small impact tool and lifted out the pulsator assembly . I replaced all parts in reverse order. It was clear cut and simple. 

After consulting with APP I determined that the Clutch was bad and needed replacement. I ordered new clutch for LG WT5001CW direct drive washer. Could not get the wash tub impeller out, did not like to chisel so I used a drill and cut out the center of the impeller. The Tub nut 38mm was rusted on shaft so I cut the nut with angle grinder and the cut the splined shaft off, I used a hub or gear puller eventually to push the Clutch out once I had undone all the bolts holding the clutch motor etc, had to order new 38mm nut/ washer etc Tipped the machine to access Clutch and found the 25mm nut and washer on the floor, so the Clutch noise was caused by bad assembly at LG assembly, this is first repair since new. Cleaned the tub and reassembly was straight forward. I could not have done it without APP Video help, 

Replaced the pulsator assembly (or "wash plate"). Simply popped the cap in the middle off the old one with a screwdriver, then bolted the new one in using a socket wrench, then put the cap on the new one. 

For once, Murphy's Law didn't rear it's ugly head. I simply removed the top cover cap, unscrewed the 10mm fastener, removed the old agitator and replaced it with the new one. Bingo! Total repair time: 2 minutes. Saved an appliance service call and possibly removing a washer from the second floor. Total of 24 hours from diagnosis time (thanks YouTube) including the 20 hours of shipping time to receive the part. 

This repair involved changing out the clutch assembly. I’d also recommend changing the agitator cap as well that fits in the tub. The cap was loose on the spindle and I was fearful it would strip out so we replaced that as well. The videos posted are spot on and easy to follow. Getting the top panel with the controls off and to the side to disassemble was hectic as there is no way I saw to brace it like in the video. I supported it off to the side by stacking blocks to the side and rotating the top assembly over. I HIGHLY recommend getting a 38mm socket to get that large spindle nut off. The pipe wrench method may work but most won’t fit within the tub. The bottom rotor was a little tough to install because of the stator magnetic pull but be sure to keep it lined up with the spindle and it will go on after rocking it back and forth. Overall the assembly is fairly straight forward, just a lot of steps. I definitely used this time to give the unit a thorough cleaning in the tub and tub assembly bracket! 

Replaced the wash plate. The part came within a few days and was perfect. 

Removed old part and installed new part. The pulsator splined plastic piece is a very week area and can strip out. 

Watched your video and ordered the parts. The video was great except for getting the top off my unit. I did call for help and she looked up my unit and told me how to do it. Washer works like new again and my wife is happy. 

Replaced it with a new one.
