1 Answer

John, a new pulsator AGZ72909711 can require some pressure when fitting it onto the agitator drive shaft. Thoroughly cleaning the drive shaft and ensuring there are no burs can help to get it on a little easier.

Nancy, this can be caused by a damaged shifter coupling MCJ61861201, coupling assembly ACP72929002, inner basket AJQ72911908 hub (part has been discontinued), or even a failed shifter 4681EA1009C. The coupling, coupling assembly, and inner basket would need to be inspected for any indications of damaged splines to identify if this is a mechanical failure or a possible electronic failure.

Gail for Model Number LG top load washer model # WT7300CW

I had scrud from my LG top load washing machine coming out on my clothes. After watching videos online we took the washing machine apart and cleaned every bit of scrud that we could but it’s build up inside the pulsator. I worked for days trying to flush it out with hot water and bar keepers friend then hot water and oxi clean. I kept it soaking in hot water and tried forcing the scrud out by pushing the pulsator down into the water forcefully. I got a lot out but eventually put it back in the washing machine hoping to get the rest out with the clean cycle and affresh. I’ve put it through two clean cycles and a lot of scrud keeps coming out. My question is will I be able to get all the scrud out this way. Is there a better washer cleaner to use. I don’t want to have to buy a new pulsator and I’ve put so much work into it so far I’m determined to clean it. Do you think a few more clean cycles will do it or is it a lost cause. Thank you.

Gail, The build-up will cause the issue and will come clean over time and cleaning. Try using vinegar to clean this as the acidity of it may work.

Rachel, Check to make sure that the dispenser is not gummed up causing this sludge as this would be the only other thing that could possibly cause the issue.

Lynda, the pulsator would need to be checked to ensure it is seating down fully. The pulsator bolt FAB31741301 will also need to be inspected for any damaged or broken threads that may be causing this issue. If the bolt broke into the drive shaft and can not be extracted, the clutch assembly AEN73131403 would need to be replaced.

Tim, To remove the pulsator you lift up on it and may need to use a rope to wedge it out. If the piece that would be inside the pulsator is stuck then you would need to use a cold chisel and bust it off if it is stuck.

Trish, oftentimes, this is caused by too much residue left over from softeners and detergents, or from too much of either being used. This can be corrected by running several washes of vinegar through without any clothes in the washer. The pulsator AGZ72909701 does have 3 weep holes under the pulsator cap that should allow water to drain out.
