How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5949339 / 6749C-0014E Compressor Start Relay

Jumped on the interwebs to troubleshoot, saw the write-up from AppliancePartsPros.com, and ordered the Compressor Start Relay. 

I replaced the compressor start relay by following the instructions on the video. It took me a while to clean out the area with a mini vacuum and wiping down the fan and other parts. The hardest thing for me was getting to the part. First prying the cover off of the old relay. And then getting the wires detached from the cover. My cover was a little different than the one on the video, it had a tab on top that I finally pried into an open position by wedging the screwdriver in. Then I could rock it off. Once it was released, the cables were still clipped onto the cover so I couldn't get the cover out of there. Figured out that the clip that was holding them slides out if you use a little flathead screwdriver to pry it out. Replacing the part was ridiculously easy after that. Success! 

Googled the problem. Watched the video. Found part I needed. Ordered part, received it in a few days. Husband replaced the part, runs like it did when we first bought it. Who knew such a small part could make such a difference.

After receiving new parts I replaced the old with the new and cleaned out the whole area which dust collected over the years. I cleaned the compressor and the coils as well as the fan which all parts were covered in dust. Everything came out very clean. My fridge is 17 years old and is still running strong with the new parts! 

Called Lowinda at AppliancePartsPros and she walked us through the diagnostic process, localized the possible parts needed and shipped them to us in less than 16 hours. 

Checked the compressor capacitor and it was bad. I replaced it and the relay and protection switch just because the unit is around 12 years old. The unit is now running like new. 

I replaced this part and it was an easy fix but it wasn’t exactly what I needed fixing. I had to order a different part and then I fixed it that way 

Replaced with another new part. It was not the exact part but it worked out so far.
