How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4441122 / 5220FR2008C Water Inlet Valve Assembly

With the help of this website and youtube I was able to determine the replacement parts and install in under 45mins. $105 for parts and shipping vs $500 to have someone come in and fix. 

I replaced all the valves and the drain pump from parts from AppliancePartsPros.com. The hardest part was disassembly, especially the door gasket. Your videos made the job easier and once I knew how to remove the door gasket, the repair was pretty straight forward. Now we do have hard water and I was lax in removing the filter and cleaning the unit which is probably why the mechanical parts that control water flow failed. That will not happen due to negligence again. Dave K. 

I found out the water inlet valve was possibly the problem. Ordered both hot and cold water inlets and replaced them both. Easy fix 

Really easy just a couple of tools and follow safety rules 

Replaced both inlet valves. Filled sink may have actually been due to a clogged sink filter, but with a 15 year old machine and buzzing solenoids didn't want to risk a mess. Machine was an LG WM1832CW . If you search you can find a service manual online. To access the valves you don't need to take off the top as some videos show. Just remove the control panel that sticks up at the back (about 7 screws), take a picture of where the connectors attach, remove them and the panel. Turn off water, unplug, disconnect hoses. Remove valves, replace, put everything back together. About a 1 1/2 hour job with no bloody knuckles if you are careful. 

Replace fill sensor. Since I was there I also replaced hot & cold water relay/valves since they were the same age. Working fine now. 

Removed old water vavle assembly and installed new one. 

Replaced both water inlet valves 5220FR2008C and 6H. Ordered parts and they arrived the day promised! 

Replaced both water intake valves. Really only needed cold but went ahead and replaced both. 

After watching the video from the link provided on the website, I was able to replace the part. Although the model of washer in the video wasn't the same as mine, I was able to get to the part that needed replacing and followed the instructions given on the video which was very simple.
