How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4442609 / 5220ED4004A Lg Check Valve

So all of a sudden the dishwasher stops working, "0E error"on the panel. Did some google searches and found that it might be the filter, which I did not know needed to be changed, or worse, the motor. Took the filter off per online tutorial (easy) and mopped up all the stagnant water. Poking around, I find the small rubber check valve that has broken. Had to fish it out with tweezers. Long story short, it was not the motor and I doubt it was the filter. It was this $1.87 rubber drainage check valve. Washer works as good as new. 

Replaced the circulation pump and related rubber gaskets, seal and the rubber check valve. Didn't realize how noisy the unit had become until after I replaced the pump. Now we don't even hear it when it's running! Was easy to replace with basic tools, just like the videos. RM 

0E error code on the LG web site pointed to a problem with the draining system. Took the dishwasher outside and tried to flush and snake the drain line. A small rubber disk came out of the dishwasher. Using the drawings and parts list on the AppliancePartsPros web site, I was able to find that the part was part of the drain check valve. The video on the repair was very close to the actual repair. Ordered the check valve and a dishrack roller I was missing, and it's now fixed. I watched a suggested video about my model and was able to easily take apart the filter unit and access the drainage area. I found a worn out "Float" Valve. In the process of replacing the float valve I went ahead and replaced a gasket and the Valve, Check. Repairs went great. Parts were a perfect fit. This is the second time I used AplliancePartsPros. 

My drain hose ruptured and when I went in to replace the hose, I found a piece of the check valve stuck in it. When I went in to confirm if that was indeed the check valve, the inner pump housing tabs broke as the plastic had become brittle over the years. So what started as a simple repair turned into a project. Correct parts shipped fast-(Unlike competitors RepC....could not deliver) Model-LDS4821ST- This is what worked for me- I was very, very lucky. It turns out it was the check valve. Appliance parts pro AP4442609/ 5520ED4004A- I also replaced the Pump gasket- 5520ED4004A. Did a full run and it was quiet again. Also the way I proved out that it was not the circulation pump, was to attach a drill to the motor shaft and ran it forwards and backwards many times. There was not any bearing noise or bearing wobble. All was done from inside or dishwasher with unit still under the counter . Good luck to all.
