As no instructions came with the parts, it was trial and error. I turned off the ice maker, removed the ice bin. Took a little while to figure out how o remove the cover protecting the wires. Unplugged the ice maker. Removed a screw from the ice maker. Since the new ice maker had a place for it but did not have a screw in it. Tried to pull the ice maker forward to dislodge, but it would not move. I figured it was all the ice built up around it. So I waited a half hour or so. I still could not move it so I grabbed a channel lock pliers and gave it a yank. The bottom half dropped down at an angle. I was then able to pull it forward & remove the ice maker. Now I know why that screw was there. Reassembly was a breeze.
