How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP6804088 / DA97-11912L Bottom-Mount Refrigerator Handle Cap Assembly

Both sides were broken, got the replacement parts, Left and Right. Took a bit to figure out how to slide the pin over to get the old part out. Also, it took some strength to pull it out. After the pin was slid over the removal and install of the new part was really easy. 

I could not find an exact video of the repair on appliance parts pros.No YouTube videos for my model. However, I found one similar enough to get an understanding of how the mechanism works. It took some gentle maneuvering to not break the new part installing. As well “still not sure why Samsung made these parts out of plastic”. Luckily appliance parts pros were the only website I could find that sold the replacement part. Which is crazy considering the manufacturer itself does not produce them. 

It was easy. I popped off the cover, unscrewed one screw, popped off the broken part. Replaced with the new part and did everything in reverse. took me about five minutes.

New parts fit perfectly. I don't know how long they will last (maybe a few months). 

I called Appliance Parts Pros.com I photo shot the part and your knowledgeable parts department was able to find the part in no time and let me know everything was going to be ok. I was impressed with his patience and good manners. Within 10 minutes or so, my part was ordered and on its way. I was told that I could follow the instructions or call back and someone could help me. I'm impressed with the service and my refrigerator will look new by the time the part is back in place.
