How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5322472 / DE94-02001C Microwave Control Panel Assembly

I replaced the touch pad which was the cause of the SE code. While having the microwave apart I replaced the charcoal filter 

Very easy fix. Watched video on U tube. Ordered the control board. Unhooked the front unit. Unplugged control board. Took out 6 screws, separated it from the membrane. Plugged back in the new membrane put back the screws. Plugged back in everything else. Fixed 10 min 

I researched the problem on the internet and determined the most likely part that failed was the control panel touchpad. Found the part number and ordered the part online. The part arrived in 3 business days. I then removed and disassembled the control panel and replaced the touchpad. I reassembled the control panel and installed it back into the microwave oven. The repair took 30 minutes to complete and the problem was fixed. It was a good experience overall. 

Short story: This fixed my problem. Appliance Parts Pros delivery is awesome. Microwave is as good is new. Wife is happy :-) Long story: There are two ways to fix this problem - 1) This control panel assembly; or, 2) The switch membrane (part # AP4580056). After reading other peoples' repair stories, I decided go go with #1, the control panel assembly. This is a more turnkey solution. If you were to just replace the switch membrane, then you must remove the existing switch membrane, remove any excess glue and then attach the new switch membrane, making sure it is aligned just right. According the the reviews, other people have done this successfully. But, I thought it would be much simpler to buy this control panel assembly where the switch membrane has been attached at the factory. Installation is very easy. Read through some of the other repair stories for the step-by-step details. Just take your time and take some pictures that you can refer back to. You will re-use your existing printed circuit board and metal housing that is attached to the surrounding plastic housing of the control panel assembly. The trickiest part for me was removing the metal housing. It just needs to be pried out from the 4 plastic tabs that are holding it place. Go slow and ease it out. Appliance Parts Pro was very speedy to process and deliver my order. I ordered at 11am and had it by 10am the next morning; and this was with standard shipping! Good luck 

I had tried cleaning the ribbon and electrical connections, but that fix only lasted one day. The new control panel assembly arrived immediately (you guys are great!). Install took less than 5 minutes and everything has been working for 72 hours -- hopefully it's fixed for good. Thank you so much! 

Some internet appliance pundits suggested a remove, clean and replace the cables to the touch pad solution. At first I thought this worked, but the problem came right back. Further investigation revealed that problem to be an intermitent one and touchpad replacement was the only solution. Once Ihad the replacement part the job was done in 10 minutes. Less time than it would have taken to pull it off the wall to take it in! 

Internet suggested cleaning the end of the data ribbon that attaches the touch pad to the control board. GREAT suggestion! Google "Samsung microwave SE error" and find the steps. It worked for over a year. Periodically "SE" would show up; clean ribbon; all would be great for a period of time. BUT, finally it began presenting the error 2-3 times a day. Time for AppliancePartsPros!!!! Ordered new Assembly Control Panel. Removed control board from old Control Panel and put in into the new one. (Just four screws...a no brainer)! Attached new data ribbon to control board. Reattached to microwave (you can't miss...all attachments have specific shaped and color coded plugs. Just match 'em up). AppliancePartsPros even double checked to be sure this part would solve the issue. Part arrived in 3 days. Probably took less than 15 minutes to install. Now, GOOD AS NEW! THANKS APPros!!!! 

I watched the video on how to remove the key pad, removed a total of 6 screws poped in the circuit board and it was fixed! 

Replaced control panel 

Searched on-line for a solution to the code and found that I needed the Assembly Control Panel. The website that described how to fix suggested purchasing from Appliance Parts Pros. I ordered on a Thursday afternoon. My family and I left for a long weekend trip on Friday morning and the part was on our front door step Sunday when we returned. We unpacked from the trip, the wife went to the grocery store and I had the microwave fixed before she got back - it probably took 10 minutes to complete. I will definitely shop Appliance Parts Pros the next time I need to repair an appliance.
