How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5948649 / DA97-13415B Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly

Purchased a replacement Ice maker from AppliancePartsPros.com, shipped overnight! Watched a Youtube video ,removed 5 screws and unplugged the failed ice maker then installed the replacement and now we have plenty of ice. The repair place quoted $600-$800 and I bought the unit here for less than $200 with overnight shipping!!!! 

I replaced it with a new ice maker. 

Once seeing that the removal of the old ice maker required removing six screws and one plug for the wiring harness, I ordered the new one through Appliance Parts Pros and I received it quickly. The installation went well and now I have ice. 

The part was easy to install and solved the problem. After a 15 minute installation, I had ice the next day. 

APP.com did all the heavy lifting. With the youtube video playing, I was done in no time. Hardest part was pulling out fridge to unplug it. 

Replace Ice maker started making ice within the hour. 

Pulled a total of 4 screws to detach panel from freezer door. Disconnected the wiring harness. Pulled 3 screws to detach ice maker from panel. Then repeated in reverse order to put everything back together. All in about 15-20 min. 

This was a very simple repair. Took off a total of 5 screws, attached the ice maker to the plate, then plugged it in. It took longer to find the breaker in the panel and disable it, than it did to replace the part. I hit the reset button and then it took 24 hours after the repair before we started to see ice again, but now the tray is full! Very easy! 

Saw YouTube video and followed guidelines to remove old icemaker and install a new icemaker. I ran into one problem in removing the lead plugin on old icemaker, the plastic lock broke off when it was lifted with a screwdriver. And the reason I found was an adhesive had been used to lock it down. I had to remove the adhesive to get a new plug to fully seat into the electrical refrigerator outlet. Also, icemaker didn't start up right away, I reset ice maker several times without success. At that point, I turned all electricity off to refrigerator for at least one minute and turned power back on and ice maker immediately began making ice and is working great. 

Replaced icemaker
