How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5948649 / DA97-13415B Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly

I called Samsung and they were going to let me take out a warranty for $400 which would be good for only a year. They would then send A repairman to fix the ice maker. I called A local repairman and it was going to be around the same price for him to repair it. The icemaker was going to be $350 + Service call. So I went online and found appliancepartspros.com and ordered a new icemaker for around $100. I watched a video on YouTube for my model. I only had to unscrew 4-5 screws, pull back a panel and unplug The old icemaker. I then plugged in the new icemaker and replace the four screws and Walla I did it all myself and it works! I am a 69-year-old woman who has to do all of her own maintenance around the house but an appliance repair man, I am not! 

Took about 20 minutes to replace bad ice maker with a new replacement unit.Real easy job. 

Tested water valve, good, so must be icemaker. 

Six screws and 15 minutes after I started, ice maker was replaced and functioning. 

I hired someone to fix it for $485 but they said they couldn't get the part. So I found it myself, watched a vid, and installed it rather easily. 

The video of my exact refrigerator was KEY! It was spot on and the new assembly (ice maker) went in just as easy as video. Thank you! 

I replaced ice maker 

Replaced the icemaker located in the freezer door. I saw all the reviews and seemed like replacing the icemaker would work and it did! Couldn’t find any video or instructions but I figured it out. My wife timed me and it took 10 minutes. The panel behind/below the icemaker needs to be removed io access the wires. Remove 4-5 screws and it pops right off. 

Replaced ice maker. 

Replaced it myself with a part from AppliancePartsPros.com and I had ice again.
