While visiting with my daughter, who lives on the edge of Orlando, she mentioned her dryer would periodically make screeching noise, then quiet down. It's been 30 years since I had a dryer apart, but what a wonderful thing YouTube is. I was pretty sure it was either a belt and/or belt tensioner. I placed an order for those items to be delivered to Daughter #1's house in a rural area of FL and it took 6 business days. I went down to Daughter #2 and dismantled the dryer and discovered one of the rear drum support rollers was completely shot causing the tensioner to dig into axle and belt burnt a couple of grooves on each side of tensioner. Working up order for the support roller and discovered tensioner bracket is not available without a roller, so ordered it, too. I recommend ordering the assembly, not just the tensioner roller. Roller in the assembly has roller bearing, single tensioner roll is a fixed bushing. While checking out I discovered it only cost $3 more for next-day delivery vs standard ($9.95 vs $6.95) and it would be $14.95 to the more rural address. Parts arrived the next day as advertised. The dryer assembled with no extra bits leftover and it's working as it should.
