How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5183285 / DA97-11117A Refrigerator Ice Bucket And Auger Assembly

Ice bucket and auger assembly was replaced and was made was easier by watching the video by Appliance Parts Pros that showed alignment of tabs in the back. Ordering from Appliance Parts Pros was very easy, especially because of their great videos. The item, however, was not packaged by their shipping department very well. The part was very well wrapped in bubble wrap, but was not secured well in the carton. The metal rod of the bucket assembly poked thru the carton during shipping and could have been damaged. 

Ordered replacement parts and installed easily.

After calling Samsung to find out they don’t even make the parts or even stock them to make the repairs, I called my local appliance repairman and he told me he couldn’t get the parts either. APP is great! I ordered this bucket and it came the next next day! Easiest “repair” ever. Take the old bucket out, then insert the new one. If you’re getting chips of white plastics when you use the dispenser, especially for crushed ice, then you need a new bucket. Over time the pressure of ice backing up in the crushing process cracks the housing in the dispensing area and white plastic starts coming out with your ice. Can’t say enough about APP and their website. The videos, repair stories and support have helped me repair my washer, dryer, dishwasher and the main board on my refrigerator.

A part was dislodged from the ice maker, making it impossible to remove the ice bucket. I had to take apart the ice bucket to remove it. Upon inspection of ice bucket, there were several crack in the auger that delivers the ice to the front. I decided to replace it. I received the part within 24 hours of ordering it. FAST FAST delivery!
