How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4456255 / DC66-00470B Washer Rear Shock Absorber

Ordered both sets of new shocks. AppliancePartsPros (APP) even called me to verify it was the correct part I was needing. Shipping was super fast. APP has tons of videos and found the one for both sets and was an easy to follow step-by-step explanation that was spot on. Whole changeout from start to finish was under two hours. Disassembled the washer completely and replaced a few key parts. 

I was convinced that the spider on the back of the tub was damaged. Watched the AppliancePartsPros.com video and decided to tackle it. Turns out that I had misdiagnosed the problem and it turned out to be that the shock absorbers were worn out. Replaced shock absorbers front and back. Reassembled the washer by watching the video and the repair was complete and the problem was solved. I've never attempted tasks like this, so it was more difficult but not impossible. It was very easy to return the wrong parts I ordered, went online and called to arrange shipping through them. (Highly recommended, much cheaper to ship) Parts were OEM and delivered within 2 days. 

The Spider Arm had disintegrated and needed replacing. This is a lengthy process as the washer needs to be completely disassembled, however none of the steps are difficult. There are good videos on the internet, including one from AppliancePartsPros.com. I needed an assistant to help me remove the drum. I also had to buy the Spider Arm bolts as most of them snapped off when I tried to remove them. AppliancePartsPros.com sells the Samsung OEM bolts but they are over $60 a set. Other suppliers sell after market bolts that look identical to the OEM bolts for less that $10 per set. I suggest replacing the shocks, drum seal and bearings while you have it apart. Also check the front boot as it can be damaged when the arm breaks. Mine had minor damage but was reusable. Washer now runs like new for about $300. 

Replaced spider arm and shocks. Samsung front load was just 5 years old. While waiting for parts I did a thorough cleaning of drum and tub. It's was filthy. Had a large amount of caked up sediment under spider arm and on back of drum. Spider arm was badly coroded but not broke. After cleaning and new parts washer works fine now. 

I ordered front and rear shock sets from AppliancePartsPros.com to correct the violent shaking on my Samsung front load washer. Installation was easy using the video link provided. After installation the washer runs smooth again. 

Replaced 4 shock absorber, balance ring and spider drive assembly. 

I ordered a slightly different p/n (DC97-14493B) and being I'm a fairly capable DIYer, I made a minor modification to make the part I needed (DC97-14493A). The opening for the Assembly Guide Water, Silver Care Kit was blocked. I carefully drilled small holes in the four corners of the opening and using a very sharp knife, I cut out the plastic blocking the opening. Note: the schematic molded in the top of the plastic housing was incorrect for my model, so mark your water lines first or use the schematic off the old housing.
