How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4202690 / DC31-00054A Washer Drain Pump

New drain pump. 

After ordering the wrong replacement pump, AppliancePartsPros.com set me up with a return and helped me order the right replacement pump. The video was not the same model as my unit but close enough to give me the confidence to attempt the repair myself. Replacing the bad pump was easy and the unit worked perfectly afterward. 

I did it myself. 

Checked and found most common issue was the drain pump. Watched video on repair, seemed easy enough. Ordered replacement pump. Installed in about 20 minutes. Hardest part was pulling the washing machine out onto the floor. It is very heavy.

I ordered a pump from appliancepartspros.com, watched their "how to" video a number of times, and replaced the pump myself. And I am a 73 year old female!! I took the machine apart and took the pump out before ordering a new pump, just to make sure I could do it. After 2 weeks I was a bit rusty as to where all the screws went. First I ended up with too many screws, then I didn't have enough! What can you do, but laugh at yourself! Anyway, it's working well so far....and it's holding together! :-) Thank you for all the help! 

Replaced drain pump. 

Turns out the washing machine would only spin once the water had been pumped out enough to spin the drum. The drain pump was running but not moving any water so there was no error or flag by the washer it would just continue to wait for the pump to finish. The washer stopped working Thanksgiving day and called the appliance repair guy Monday morning since they weren't working over the long weekend. He was a week out for repairs and we were already 4 days behind on laundry... Also charged $140 just to walk in the door... Figured the pump was the issue. Checked AppliancePartsPros for the part and watched the installation video. Looked easy enough and the part was less than the service charge of the repair guy shipping included. Had the part the next day and we were washing clothes by mid-afternoon. This is the third part for different appliances we have purchased from AppliancePartsPros and they have all arrived quickly and worked as expected. Installations have been much easier after watching the installation videos associated with each of the parts as well. Great all-around site for our recent appliance repairs. 

Ordered new pump to replace faulty pump, for the third time in 10 years. 

Followed the AppliancePartsPros.com video for my machine. I had some issues removing the front panel due to rusted hinges, which added 30 minutes to the repair. Removed pump assembly, disconnected old pump and installed new one. Challenge was making sure all clamps were fitting properly on all hoses when reconnecting everything; this added another 30 minutes. Otherwise, this was a relatively easy fix. It was this or buying a new washer-dryer set!
