Shut off power to machine. Pulled the toe kick panel off to remove previous broken part, took out two screws (top and front of machine) that held it to counter, pulled machine out to access side panels. Removed screws holding side panels. Used the still working side to see how/where both ends of the rope needed to attach.
Had a little trouble reaching the hook that the rope needed to get around, so unbent a metal coat hanger and created a long-handled hook. Put toe kick and side panels back on.
Worst part was getting machine back under the counter. There was a gap in the hardwood flooring that the legs kept getting stuck on. Took a couple of guys to help lift/wedge the machine back in place.
Reconnected power and it's working great!
Tools needed: phillips screwdriver and metal coat hanger. :)
