How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4343159 / DD67-00039A Dishwasher Door Spring

Pulled dishwasher out about half way to expose the spring and rope attachment points. Installed new ropes on both sides and set the spring at the adjustment notch for optimum tension and counterweight. 

I called a repair service who diagnosed the problem and ordered a part. Unfortunately, the repair service ordered the incorrect part. I quickly found the correct item on Appliance_Parts_Pro and these fine folks delivered it to my door in 1.5 days--amazing. When the serviceman showed up to complete the repair the following week, I had the correct part in hand and it was all over in 45 minutes. 

I ordered 2 new springs and 2 new rope pulley assemblies from AppliancePartsPros. I found a youtube video to show how to make the repairs. I am 63 years old and have not done any repairs like this, but repair service for Samsung appliances is cost prohibitive. Since the dishwasher was 9 years old I figured if I screwed it up irretrievably I would just buy a new one. Fortunately I was able to make the repairs and the dishwasher works fine! 

Replaced cord. 

One of these cords snapped on my dishwasher door, it would have cost over $100 to fix. I replaced both of them and kept the one that didn't snap (but was showing signs of wear) as a back up (taped it to the outside of the dishwasher) all for less than $20. The toughest part is disconnecting and reconnecting the dishwasher, the replacement itself is really easy. 

Pulled dishwasher out a few inches. Replaced door hinge cable on each side. 

Replaced cables and springs on both door hinges. Only the left side cable was broken but the cable on the right side was showing signs of wear. I also replaced both springs since the washer is difficult to access for repair. 

Ordered 2 new ones, if you're replacing 1, do both sides. 

Replaced spring ropes. 

I used a small screw driver to gently pry tabs on adapter and removed, then pushed the new one in place, then snapped new nozzle in place. For the door springs I pulled the dish washer out enough to access the side covers and removed damaged rope and replaced with new rope. I replaced both sides. everything works great now.
