How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005797 / WP21002238 Washer Electronic Control Board

I replaced the Washer Control Board in it. 

After watching the maytag man fix it I could do it easily 

Bought the control panel part suggested by these pros and it worked like a charm. Super easy to install; like clicking a part into a computer after removing 5 screws. The painful part was the cost, $165. Less than a new washer. Now I wonder if I should unplug the washer when not in use, or install a surge protector to prevent in the future. 

We had a service guy come and check out our non functioning washer. He wanted $440 to replace the washer control board and said it would be 10 days to 2 weeks to get the part. We said no thanks since we only paid $450 for the washer ten years ago. We planned on replacing the washer instead of repairing it. Then I found the part for $155, ordered it on Sunday and got it the following Wednesday. Took me 15 minutes to replace and the washer is working properly. 

Bought a expensive printed circuit bd. and installed, just unplug several connetors and into new board, very easy. Will buy a surge protector now....do maintenance for a living, got the part in 2 days, I will use website again for sure. 

From reading all I could, I guessed that the Washer Control Board was the problem and ordered it because I was told I could return it if it did not correct the problem. Received the Board two days later. Installed it without any instructions, making sure each plug I disconnected was correctly connected on the new Board. Reinstalled Board and washer works fine. Installation took 1.5 hours. Only problem was the fact that there were no instructions with the part or on line. With instruction I could have finished in one-half the time. 

Replaced 32 position rotary switch and circuit board. Parts arrived 3 days after order was placed which was great since local supplier said their order would take 7 to 10 days to arrive. 

LOND AGO I WORKED ON THESE THINGS IF I HAD TO------MOSTLY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS-----------------BUT NOW THE MECHANICAL PARTS ARE QUITE GOOD SO I DECIEDED TO ORDER THE CIRCUT BOARD THAT CONTROLED EVERYTHING-----------USING GOOGLE I FOUND SEVERAL PARTS HOUSES AND THE MORE I LOOKED THE CHEAPER I FOUND THE PART----------------APPLIANCE PARTS PROS WON AND THE PART CAME EVEN QUICKER THAN THEY STATED IT WOULD-----------I HAD IT INSTALLED AND THE WASHER WORKING VERY WELL IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES-----------------I COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED-----------RICHARD BARNES------COLORADO
