How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010439 / WP67005154 Refrigerator Dual Water Inlet Valve

Appliance repairman diagnosed problem as a solenoid failure. The fix was to replace the inlet valve. I was able to buy the part from Appliance Parts Pros at less expense than from the technician's company. Part arrived on the day following my order and replacement went smoothly with guidance provided on the video.for This was my third favorable experience with Appliance Parts Pros. 

Ordered the inlet valve from AppliancePartspro . removed old one and replaced. 

I replaced the water inlet valve. Once I found out that all you need to do is press down on the rings holding the tubing it was easy. I expected it to leak but not a single drop of water was spilled. I replaced a broken freezer light switch which I had bypassed several years ago to get the ice maker working. Now I have a freezer light again. 

The part number was easily identifiable on the old part. I googled it and the first hit was the appliancepartspros.com website. I easily found the replacement, ordered it and had it within 3 days. Other than taking the screws out to remove the lower back plate on our refridgerator, removal of the old part and installing the new one required no tools and could not have been easier. 

Replaced water inlet valve assembly. That was easy enough. The hard part was getting the fridge out of its space in the kitchen to gain access to the valves and repairing the leak in the fixed plumbing that occurred during the process. 

I ordered a new ice maker, install kit and double valve. After watching a couple videos on the site here I tackled the install with ease. About 15 minutes and I was done. Now she makes ice like the local Holiday Inn. My order was placed Wednesday evening. I chose the 3-5 day delivery option. It was waiting for me when I walked in from work two days later. Can't beat that. Thanks guys and gals at APP.com. 

Replaced water inlet value. 

Whirlpool part #670056154 is IDENTICAL to Viking part #PS40027. Viking wants $277 for a $60 whirlpool part, it is the same part. Switched easily, works flawlessly. 

Unplugged the refrigerator and turned off water supply. Disconnected water line going into inlet valve. Removed approx 5 screws that hold the back panel and the inlet valve. Unplugged the 2 color coded wire connectors. Disconnected the 2 water lines for the ice maker and the water dispenser. Then in reverse order hooked up new inlet valve and reassembled back panel. I received the part in 2 days and took me 10 min to replace.
