How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5956100 / W10712394 Adjuster Kit

I'm a 74-year-old woman and was unsure if I could do the repair myself. I contacted a local parts store that wanted $109 for the adjuster kit and it would take 10 days to get it. I ordered from AppliancePartsPros.com, Received the parts in 1 day, and it cost me under $40!! Purchased replacement kit assembly to fit my dishwasher. Watched YouTube video and replaced the assembly myself in about 15 minutes...so simple! Probably saved myself $150 repair bill if I would have called an appliance repairman! 

I watched several YouTube videos on how to repair and ordered the needed parts. 

Ordered parts from AppliancePartsPros.com and followed you tube video to install the adjuster kit to the upper rack. I originally ordered the incorrect part because I read the model number wrong. Called and talked with Mike who recognized what I did and we got the correct parts ordered. We received the next day. 

I removed the top dish rack after I had received the adjuster kit. The replacement parts were of a different design from the original, and it wasn’t plainly obvious to me how the newly redesigned parts were to fit. I was too impatient to watch the video available on your website, and just fiddled around with it until they were oriented correctly. In the process of doing this I broke the little plastic locking tabs on the parts. This didn’t seem to affect the parts being attached as they are also secured by screws. There was a torx to Phillips driver adapter included in the parts bag with my purchase for those who may not have a torx driver bit. 

The replacement kit had everything but the instructions. It took a little bit to figure it out how it went together but everything worked. I also received it in 2 days. 

We looked up the new adjuster kit witch was very simple and had them replaced within 15 minutes. 

Purchased and installed a new adjuster kit. 

While it was very easy to speak with a representative (who was very polite and knowledgeable) to order the correct parts, there were “NO INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED”. Just a box of parts. Husband was able to figure it out. 

Ordered the upper rack adjuster kit. Direct replacement.
