How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6024203 / WPY54414 Dryer Belt Tension Pulley

I went to you tube and watched the removal of the front of an electric clothes dryer and commenced to taking it apart not that I needed it but as a refresher. The problem I had was I didn't go deep enough on the first break down and parts ordering as when I put the front drum support brackets along with there glide pads and a new felt drum gasket, I still had a considerable noise. Determined now to repair I took all I had just reassembled back apart and found one of the two drum rollers was totally coned in the center bearing area and allowed it to wobble and not function at all. These are to be replaced in pairs so I ordered two of them along with a tensioner pulley which had worn in the circumference decreasing the speed of the drum when turning and replaced the belt. At this point I feel comfortable my dryer will work for a good period of time again as it is as quiet as a new one. As a mechanic myself I should of known to remove the entire drum and check all turning parts originally which would of shortened my downtime as appposed to two Fed-X orders. On a positive note my when searching the internet for parts the first time I did not order from Appliance Parts Pro which caused me to pay more for the parts and have a longer delivery time (four days as apposed to two with APP). My replacement parts store from here on will be Appliance Parts Pro and I have created a short cut on my computer. 

REPLACE THE ROLLERS AND IDLER WITH NEW ONES AND THE DRYER WORKS GREAT. 

Went On-Line and did a Google search using my dryer part number. Your web-site looked like it might help. Not only did I find my dryer, I found an illustrated parts list for everything I needed as well as a very concise video explaining how to replace the parts. The parts arrived in two days, the reassembly took one hour. The only problem I had was the routing of the drive belt. After viewing the video again I was able to freeze frame the image of the correct belt routing. It could not have been any easier. I promptly told everyone I could think of to use your company for appliance repairs. Your web-site was very easy to use, videos very short and concise, You guys are the best! 

My dryer was making a horrible squeak and I wasn't sure what was causing it so I ordered all three parts. Totally quiet now. Took 20 minutes. 

Replaced all rollers. Took about two hours since the video dis-assembly was not the same as my unit, even though the model was. It was a little difficult to put the drum belt tensioner back on as shown. All in all not that difficult. 

Replaced dryer belt, drum glides, belt tension pulley and drum support rollers for good measure. Repair was easy, and I received parts in just over 24 hours after ordering. 

Installed the new idler pulley. Quiet as a Swiss watch now. Also replaced the drum rollers and belt.

Replaced glides and felt pads. Replace idle arm tension pully and because I was in there, like hands and knees crawled into empty dryer shell, I replaced the belt. My daughter in law and I search the internet for the parts that needed replacing while my husband was googling new dryers. It took 3 days to get all the parts and 30 minutes to replace them. Dryer is working great. My daughter in law and I feel great too. 

Ordered the new pulley from AppliancePartsPros and installed it. Shaft got so hot it melted the plastic retaining clips for the pulley. Used metal circlip in place of the plastic clip. I performing this installation you probably should order new clips.
