How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016895 / WPW10200754 Glass-Door (Blk)

Let's start from the beginning. The #4 screws that the handle onto the front of the oven came loose causing the handle to....fall off. I removed the door, found the screws and attempted to re-install them. As I tightened the screws down the glass panel shattered. Unbeknownst to me, the screws insert through the glass pane to reach the handle, an idiotic and unnecessary manner in which to affix the door handle. If the glass MUST be positioned in this manner then, at minimum, special grommets of some sort should be installed into the holes in the glass. Once the panel was received in good order from the company, the next step was to scrape the shattered glass from the stainless steel fascia panel which had been glued to the glass. This alone was a nightmare. Again, unnecessary with little if any thought given to serviceability. The stainless plate is over $125 so I'd be damned if I was going to purchase one. All in all, once the shattered glass was removed things went well. * Piece of advice: use Loctite on screws upon installation and DO NOT over torque the screws. Do it and you'll shatter the glass. Lastly, the provided part was a perfect fit so APP did their job and id it well. Received in #2 days, perfectly packaged. I'm going to state that this is, in effect, and easy job ONCE the glass is scraped and you install the screws without shattering the glass. DON'T forget the Loctite. 

Originally the handle came undone and tried to repair that. In the process of tightening the screws and moving the outside door, the glass cracked into a billion pieces. Note to anyone else....don't over tighten the handle screws. Fully removed the door and scraped all of the glass shards away. Ordered the replacement glass which came in 2 days. I used some high heat fire block caulk the corners as the adhesive that held the glass previously was not as sticky. Let it sit for 24 hours and proceeded to reassemble the glass and handle to the door plate, then placed that back onto the larger piece of the oven door. Tighten the screws and placed it back onto the oven. Looks good as new. Probably saved close to $200 plus the cost of the glass doing it myself. 

Replaced the outer glass with the correct part. Wished there had been double sided tape supplied to replace the original tape because it was no longer sticky.
