How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009896 / WP6-918873 Silverware Basket Assembly

Was easy to repair with the Appliance Parts Pros video instructions. The plastic pegs inside our dishwasher panel that mount the latch mechanism were also broken, but I was able to wedge in a small piece of PVC pipe trimmed at an angle to support it instead and it’s working very smoothly now. 

Ordered a replacement silverware basket.

Ordered a new basket. Very nice quality, and fit perfectly. 

Bought a new one. It fit perfectly. About as simple as they get, since you do the same thing every time you load/unload silverware. Only think that made process a little difficult was the sizes listed in the description. I think the description gives the dimensions of the box, not the basket itself. If it actually was the dimensions in the description it would not fit. 

Using the dishwasher door latch assembly, I replaced the broken old latch assembly with a new one in about 10 - 15 minutes. It was as easy as advertised, and the door closes tightly and there are no more leaks. Bravo!
