Bruce W Macomb , IL August 08, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Washer- Horizontal Axis MAH5500BWW Tub bearings / seal Purchases replacement bearings & rear seal. Also purchased new front door seal as it had molded. replaced both bearings - rear seal was completely gone. installed "new model" rear seal & front door seal (took around 4 hours with bearing puller) put unit back together & tested- smoke started rolling out while in high speed spin cycle. Found that my machine takes the older - thinner rear seal (not any instructions for which one to use). Replaced rear seal -AGAIN & sold unit. bought new whirlpool front loaders so I will have this problem again in another 10 - 15 yrs. great products-!! Read More... Rob P Newton , NH June 28, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Washer- Horizontal Axis MAH3000AWW Maytag neptune washer (mah3000aww) was very noisy during spin Front and rear bearings as well as seals needed replacement. All were badly worn (but this is an old machine). I could not remove the bearings with standard install/removal tools. I had to remove the entire Outer Tub in order to gain better access. There were lots of screws, but not really too difficult. Once the Tub was removed, I was able to hammer the bearings out with some threaded rod, washers and nuts. It took quite a bit of force to get them out but they did come. Everything cleaned up well and the new bearings pressed in fine. Parts were in-stock and arrived on-time. Included instructions (and on-line videos) were helpful. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set, Wrench Set
Richard N Sayner , WI June 27, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Washer- Horizontal Axis MAH5500BWW Tub bearings needed to be replaced on a front loading neptune that was ten years old The disassembly and remove of the tub and bearings was the easy part. Getting the bearings pressed back in was challenging and required considerable effort. After the bearings were properly seated it was a simple task to reassemble the machine. I was not pleased how the part at the base of the tub that actually seats inside the seal fit on the shaft. An "O" ring was provided to effect a water proof barrier that appeared to be too big to allow this part to fit flat against the base of the tub shaft. When I replaced the pulley, there appeared to be more drag on the tub than I cared for. After running a few loads of laundry the drag seemed to increase. I removed the tub and seal insert from the shaft. I chucked the seal insert in my metal lathe and completely removed the flange that would not seat on the base of the shaft. I reinstalled the seal insert onto the shaft over a layer of RTV to effect a water tight seal with the shaft. After reinstalling the tub, I was then able to tighten the drive pulley completely and the tub spun freely. The machine is back in service and performing flawlessly. Read More... Roger N Port Orchard , WA June 05, 2015 Front bearing was bad and made alot of noise on final high speed spin Followed the video for lip seal replacement to take the washer apart. Struggled with removing the bearing as there was not a video on this feature. i used a 3/4: socket set and a ball peen hammer to get the bearing out and do the final seat. Followed the video to put the washer back togeather and all went well. Back in service. Read More... Charles M Rogersville , TN May 30, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Washer- Horizontal Axis MAH7500AWW Roaring noise during spin cycle I replaced both front and rear bearings and the lip seal kit. Turns out only the front bearing was bad but no more than the rear cost and the amount of work involved getting to it it was well worth doing the rear as well. I assume the lip seal had started to leak causing the front bearing to go bad. I ordered the parts online through appliance parts pros and on the e-mail confirmation there was a video (for the lip seal) i followed the video step by step except the bearing replacement, put the washer back together and it has done fine since. Made a costly job both affordable and relatively easy. Thanks appliance parts pros Charles Read More... Dean L Oakfield , WI May 25, 2015 The tub bearings were worn out This was the 2nd time replacing the front and rear bearings in my Maytag washer. It went much easier, since we put antiseize on the bearing housing last time. Still needed a slide hammer to pull the rear though. 3 1/2 hrs start to finish, with 1/2 hr cleaning the tub and inner drum. Could not use updated seal (again) it does not allow the tub to go in all the way into the rear bearing. Reassembly was easy, only 2 tries to attach cable and spring on the boot. Works perfectly and QUIETLY now. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Screwdrivers, Socket Set
