After pulling clothes out that were saturated and water laden, due to son not allowing the spin cycle on washer to complete, I was sure our dryer was finished..... I started looking at new dryers during the day, wow have the prices ever increased! Since sticker shock was sinking my thoughts of a new appliance, I came to AppliancePartsPros and began poking around the video’s for dryer repair. Boy am I glad I did!!!!!! Watching the disassembly video for belt replacement I began my foray into dryer repair.
1- small flat head screwdriver to disengaged internal electrical plugs
1- 1/4” ratchet with 1/4 “ socket
I found the belt had in fact broken under the weight of the saturated clothes tumbling around in the tub, my biggest fear was the motor, I could hear the relay engage during my original attempt to run dryer after the saturated clothes incident. I did a small reassembly without the drum installed, to check the motor. Placing a wood block between the exhaust tube and the tension pulley allowed the “centrifugal” switch to engage. I connected power to the dryer, selected a mode, low and behold the motor ran! Whew, what a relief.
I ordered the belt and had it the next day, followed video instruction for belt replacement, reassembled drum, exterior items and plugs. Bodda bing, bodda boom, an almost like new Kenmore 2002 (I think) HE3 dryer.
Thank you APP.com I could not have done this without your online tutelage!
