How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5983729 / 661570V Whirlpool Drive Belt

Replaced belt and thermal fuse 

I followed the tutorial on your website which luckily was for my exact dryer. It was incredibly detailed and helpful. Short and to the point. I only needed to consult the internet for 2 finer points - how to release the dryer switch which was very tight and the proper side to face up on the belt. 

Replaced the drum rollers 

Ordered new belt, and installed new belt 

Replaced belt, before it broke. Also blew out accumulated lint from all internal parts, motor drum felt on edges, pulleys, air ducts and heating tube and blower fan. Lubricated all pulley bushings with spray dry lube. If I only would have replaced the belt it would have taken about an hour. Replaced idler pulley and as a preventative maintenance, also replaced 4 drum support rollers while disassembled. 

Replaced drive belt 

Replaced the tensioner as purchased. I also cleaned and greased the tub rollers with lithium grease. While I had the dryer apart, it’s a no-brainier to replace the belt as it was almost 9 years old and under moderately heavy usage. 

Replaced the belt and idler pulley assembly 

Replaced all dryer drum rollers and connecting parts
