Disassembly and inspection found one thermal sensor with burnt leads, the hub on the fan was broken, and the motor appeared frozen. Testing described in the service manual confirmed the motor was bad. Ordered the sensor, fan, motor, and belt. Some instructional videos show the top being left on, I took it off for better vision and reach. Fan install on motor was easier on bench top. Replacing the motor required wiring to a different connector than before, found a very good guide in these stories. Wires were all hooked up with motor in place but not fastened down, for ease of reach. Returning the drum and belt was much easier using a hint from a video: put the belt around the drum in the correct orientation (grooves facing OUT) then use it as a sling to help lift the drum into place. I used the back access panel to loop the belt around the gears. The rest of reassembly was straightforward. It took a while to do the repair mostly due to my uncertainty, and having to wait for parts that came in 3 separate shippings. Needed retaining clip pliers and strip & crimp tool for wiring.
