How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014843 / WPW10074580 Inner Cap

According to the observed malfunction and its recommended remedy by appliancepartspros, I purchased the Medium Cam Agitator Repair Kit, a replacement Agitator Bolt, a replacement Inner Cap, and a spare set of Agitator Dogs. I placed my order online on a a Wednesday, late morning, and the parts arrived mid-afternoon, the next day! Installing a new short cam restored the top agitator to proper functioning.
