How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023677 / WPW10662129 Run Capacitor

I replaced both the compressor start device and the capacitor and the problem was fixed right away. It took me about 15 minutes total to swap the parts. The new compressor start device was slightly smaller than the one I was replacing even though it was the same manufacturer and part number. I had to bend the retaining clip slightly so it stayed tight, but it was very easy to install. 

Referenced problem on appliancepartspros web sight, 99% capacitor problem. ordered the capacitor, and compressor Start Device (better to do both) from appliancepartspros, problem solved. 

After looking at some YouTube videos and viewing troubleshooting tips on AppliancePartsPros.com, I was able to narrow it down to compressor start device and capacitor. After reading other reviews from people who bought same parts, I was pretty sure these parts would solve my issues. I Had parts overnighted and had fridge back to normal temperatures a few hours later. I‘d definitely recommend appliance parts pros.com to anyone and I’ll be using again if ever needed. 

I searched YouTube for repair videos on the problem that I was having with my refrigerator. Found a video from Appliance Part Pros. I ordered the parts. I received the parts. I watched the video on how to change the parts. My refrigerator was fixed saving me $2000+ on not having to buy a new refrigerator. 

I have an 11 year old Maytag side by side, model number MSD2550VEU01. We noticed that our frozen items would be starting to thaw, and our fridge side wasn’t very cold. The compressor would cycle on and off, but not at the normal intervals. Every now and then we’d bang on the freezer side, near the top right, and that would get the compressor going. Had to make sure to do that several times a day to make sure our food stayed frozen/cold. Did some Internet researching and came to a conclusion that it could be the capacitor and/or start relay. Decided to order both parts just in case. Placed the order on a late Tuesday afternoon, chose the standard shipping rate, & the parts arrived the next day! Very happy about that. Also need to mention I ordered a condenser coil cleaning brush. We regularly maintain our refrigerator and the coil cleaning brush helps a lot. Regularly cleaning underneath the fridge and dusting the coils off will extend the life of the appliance. I watched a great video on Appliance Parts Pros website showing how to do this repair. It was fairly easy, and did not take very long. Our refrigerator is working now. These parts seem to have solved the problem. I’m so glad I came across appliancepartspros.com shop. Replaced the capacitor and start relay to the compressor. 

Replaced Capacitor, Start-Dev and thermostat, so for so good. 

I watched the video on what the cause could be and determined the cause was a faulty compressor start relay. I called Appliance Parts Pros and confirmed my diagnosis and ordered the part. The part came in 3 days. I installed in 5 minutes and the refrigerator is working fine. 

Replaced with a new capacitor and relay start device and it runs like new now. The video guide on the fix made it simple and took 2 minutes. 

Replaced the control board & cleaned off the condenser coils. I also replaced the capacitor, but more from an abundance of caution than firm belief that it failed. After installing the new parts, the unit showed no change until the following morning when I noticed it had stopped running.It kicked back on a few minutes later, started cooling in fridge and freezer and has behaved perfectly since then (2 days). I am guardedly optimistic.
