How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023677 / WPW10662129 Run Capacitor

After watching videos on appliancepartspros.com I removed the start relay and capacitor. I shook the relay, it rattled, so I ordered and replaced the two parts. Took about 10 minutes and was simple plug and play. Only tough part was pulling the refrigerator away from the wall. 

After opening the back panel and checking all connections while it was unplugged, I plugged it in and heard the clicking noise. After identifying the source and removing the part, ordered a replacement. After waiting 2 weeks for a different vendor to send the part, I came to AppliancePartsPros and had the part within 24 hours. A few minor modifications to the connections, appliance works normally again. Thanks for the quick turnaround time! 

Researched why, isolated clicking sound, determined start/restart and or capaciter module went bad. Ordered and replaced both parts since I did not own multi-meter to test. Appliance Parts Pros video provided how do remove / install parts. Took 5 minutes. Saved $125.00 service call which would not have included overpriced parts. 

I ordered the starter kit and a capacitor from Appliancepartspros. The kit had starters for three applications. Mine was the 90amp. It was easy. Just remove the back cover. Unclip the starter and replace both items. It works great again. Make sure you clean the coils. Mine was dirty. It took longer because I cleaned the coils. 

I replaced the compressor start module, still didn't start. Then I replaced the capacitor, still didn't start. We decided to purchase a used refrigerator. The day we were going to swap out the two, we discovered something very important for anyone with a dead fridge. Facing the door, we removed the right upper door hinge cover to see how the doors come off so we could remove the fridge from the room. Out fell a folded instruction paper titled, "For Technicians Only". It described in detail how to restart the fridge. It involved opening one door, holding the light switch closed for the open door, looking at the manufacturer data plate to obtain the "secret" three digit code, entering the code on the temperature control panel while holding the door light switch closed, and closing the door. The unit started right up! The instruction paper was folded up tiny to fit in the hinge cover, and we believe it was put there by the manufacturer. Needless to say, we did not buy another fridge! 

Start device device/protective assembly and run capacitor 

I first ordered a capacitor to see if this corrected the warm refrigerator--it did not change. Next I ordered the freezer fan and foam air vent going down to the refrigerator. The fan change was easy to do and also replacing the foam. Note: you need to take the foam out and be extra careful when pulling it out--it is very brittle and broke apart on me. I could have glued it back together but felt it would be better in the long run to replace it. The refrigerator is now working fine now thanks to the appliance parts pros symptoms and recommendations. 

I replaced the start device assembly and the start capacitor. I made sure that the condenser fan and the evaporator fan were working by removing the appropriate covers, plugging it in and watching them run. Then I ordered the start assembly and capacitor. It runs great now. I ordered the parts at 3 in the afternoon and they arrived at noon the next day! Thanks AppliancePartsPros! 

I was told by you company to replace capacitor and motor evaporator I replaced capacitor noting happened, refrigerator was not cold then I replace fan evaporator motor and refrigerator start cooling,I don’t understand the old evaporator fan was working, now refrigerator is fine, thanks for everything 

Submitted symptom to AppliancePartsPros.com, and received recommendation to replace the capacitor over the relay on the compressor. Watched the video available online, and determined I could do the repair myself. Ordered the replacement part, received it in 48 hours, installed it in about 30 minutes. Problem solved.
