How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012234 / WP8268375 Check Valve

I've opened sump housing to check for clogging but it was clean. When I removed check valve to inspect it I've found out that the round part of the valve was missing so I figured it might've blocked the water exit at drain hose or something like that. So I pulled the dishwasher out to get a full access to drain hose connector and the pump. Upon disconnecting the drain and checking its connector I indeed found the round piece totally blocking the hose and acting as a seal. I removed the piece with pliers and installed replacement check valve. Since I've ordered a newer and better pump I also decided to replace it. Now my dishwasher works like a brand new. 

Videos were a great help in diagnosing the problem, identifying the part and making the repair. 

Dishwasher was flooding the kitchen so I ordered these two parts in hopes of fixing the problem instead of buying a new one. Parts matched perfectly and took about 1 hour to get the machine back up and running. You have to almost take the bottom half of the machine apart to get to the drain pump. All in all not too bad of a repair, save your hard earned $$ and do it yourself! 

Hadn't had any issues with the unit for over 7 years, until I started hearing that unusual noise. Found a helpful how-to video on line, which showed me how to take down the water spray assembly (including that hidden screw!). The sump had a bunch of debris in it (toothpicks, wire ties, etc), which I cleaned...also found the chopper blade and screen were pretty beat up. Replacing the components was pretty easy, and it seems to have fixed the problem. 

Removed drain pump and drain hose. Found blockage in hose, cleared. Reinstalled hose. Installed new pump and check valve (inside washer). 

This was on my mom's dishwasher it wouldn't drain. So I installed a new drain pump, check the cable, and water level switch. Then she tells me that the problem started after the new disposal was installed..... Well, the person who installed the disposal didn't drill out the plugin the disposal so check that first. 

Followed the video which was great, got down to the check valve, found lots of seeds and some broken glass in the food grinder, cleaned that all out, replaced the check valve, took off the top sprayer and cleaned out some junk, put everything back together, loaded it up and its successfully cleaning dishes as I write this. Just a quick tip, use you phone to snap a picture of your model no.it's sure is easier than trying to read sideways! Thanks

I replaced the chopper assembly & the check valve. Quick fix with great results. 

The videos with each part ordered are a great help, especially with the check valve. The pump motor was very easy to replace. Works great!
