How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5989766 / W10854425 Clip

Bought new timer control knob and new front panel retainer clips. 

Followed the CLEAR steps in the Dryer's Service Manual to determine which component was bad (the Thermal Fuse) and then followed the steps to replace it. The only unexpected issue was the need to prop-up the drum (from falling out after the face holding it was removed to get access to the burner area below) while waiting for the ordered part to arrive .... the manual didn't alert me to that need (a few fat books did the trick). 

Followed videos on website for all parts . All repairs were fairly simple. Vacuumed out dryer interior. Put it all back together and tried it out. Was a little noisy at first but once everything lined back up it was as quiet as day one. This dryer is 16 years old. Hopefully it will last a lot longer! 

Replaced idler pulley as per your instruction video. Only semi difficult part of procedure was reattaching spring, spring tension made it a little trying. Total replacement took only 30 minutes start to finish. Your instruction video was a GREAT help, Thanks 

Replaced the rollers and the belt. To help thread the belt under the tension roller and onto the motor pulley, I supported the drum in place.. I used a string passed under the front of the drum and tied to the top of the side panels. Your video of roller replacement was pretty good: But perhaps you might want to add this trick to it. 

After researching videos on you tube we concluded this was the part that was most likely causing the issue 

Well when I got my parts on Tuesday 10-6-15 I replaced the belt and idler pulley and two new door clips and put all back together works great but I still mite need to replace element anyways on going to use it and if need a element I know where to get it and fast you guys are the best and thank you for help tony

I ordered the parts from Appliance Pros. They were delivered exactly when they were promised. I had never gone inside of a dryer before, but once I figured out how to get it apart (after destroying two cabinet clips, which i also ordered from Appliance Pros) it was pretty easy. My biggest fear was that i broke something else getting it apart. It is working perfectly. I would reccomend watching one of the videos on Appliance Pros website before starting. If i had done that, it would have saved me a little money in the cabinet clips that i destroyed.
