How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012576 / WP8299642 Clutch

I watched a few on line videos. Found 2 easy things to check. The motor coupler then the clutch. It took me about 30 minutes to get everything apart and find out which problem it was. Went on line to Appliance Pros.com and ordered the new clutch.It came in 2 days. Took less than 30 minutes to get it on and get everything back together. It was awesome. 

Researched and found it was likely either the motor coupling or clutch. Ordered both. The coupling was significantly damaged and the clutch was only slightly worn. Went ahead and replaced both (while I had it disassembled, why not?). Works like a charm. Hundreds cheaper than a replacement. 

Replaced transmission (that was the problem) and clutch (if you're going to tear it down put in a new clutch - they're cheap). APPRO's video was a big help. Everything went as they showed except transmission does not just slide out. You have to work it in and out several times. Once it breaks free it will slip out. This was my first transmission. It was not nearly as hard as I had thought it would be. 

Ordered new clutch from you , Installed 

Replaced clutch, clutch (AP6012576 ), retaining clip ( AP6014902) , washer motor coupling (AP3963893 ) and cam agitator assembly. (AP4379828 ). Would have replaced the brake cam driver since it was accessible during the job but this part was not included in the AP6012576 kit, nor suggested by the web-page. The new cam agitator assembly comes w/ a 7/16"hex bolt, while my machine had a double-ended stud w/ a 9/16" head in the middle. The old retainer threads into the top stud and needs a 1/2" square drive bar to remove. I re-used the old retainer. Straightforward job for mechanically inclined. Took four hours which included set-up, disassembly, reassembly, test, and clean up. Make sure that you drain the water in the washer before disassembling anything. I used a deep roller tray and laid the machine unto its back, supported at the frame sides with four 4x4 blocks. Expect 1/2 gallons of water or thereabouts. Keep lots of rags handy. Hope the old girl will keep going as long as we do. 

Replaced the clutch. 

I followed your video step by step to replace the clutch, replaced the part and turned out pretty easy. Unfortunately the guy that wanted to charge me $360 to do the job was wrong about the problem. Very happy with APP.com parts in 24 hours. and your video on you tube in very clear. 

Replace dog,coupler&clutch...but the machine still happen the same mistake...after that ,l make the outlet wather hose, make lower level high ...machine is running good now.I think the pump may has problem ,so i want to replace a new pump for machie 

I replace the clutch and the direct drive coupling by looking it up on u-tube. The videos where a great way for a DIY to save on some money and time. Thanks Appliance Parts Pros for speedy delivery.
