How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4010226 / 12002533 Door Boot Seal

I replaced the water valve. It was not difficult. There was a good deal of satisfaction attributable to repairing a well built machine after looking over the junk that is being sold new. New machines comply with EPA rules for water conservation, etc but I've never spoken with a repairman that liked them. The most challenging part was removing old fasteners that haven't been touched in many, many years. No wonder Maytag's commercials used to talk about lonely repairmen. It turned out to be a fun project and Appliance Parts Pros helped with parts and videos.

I watched AppliancePartsPros videos which were awesome and very simple to follow. 

The how to fix video was great! We had a little trouble putting the spring back on around the seal. My husband put a little window cleaner on cable so it would slide into place easier. 

Ordered new rubber boot and received it the very next day. The shipping was impressive. The boot went in per instructions without any problems. 

Replaced the door boot. 

We order the replacement gasket from appliancepartspros because they had a video that showed how to do it and it didn't look that difficult. Working with my autistic ADHD son we managed to take it apart per the video. The second most difficult part is removing the wire with the spring that holds the rubber boot. The one most difficult part is trying to reattach the spring to the retaining wire. You must try and keep the wire as close to the edge as possible or you will pull the rubber boot out of its track we did that several times. This spring is hard to pull to reach the other end took several attempts. I suggest during the rebill process you wipe down everything that you have open. In the end I think you will appreciate what you just did you just save yourself buying a new washer. Congratulations 

Replaced door boot seal. The cable with spring is difficult to put back on around the boot seal. It took 11/2 hours to accomplish. The rest of process was simple. Video was very helpful.
