Timothy Y Newmarket , NH December 20, 2015 Appliance: Model MAYTAG NEPTUNE WASHER Thrashed the door panel & seal I replaced the inner door panel, vent grommet, and door boot seal. Replacing these items was pretty straightforward, especially with the repair videos playing in the background. The only "challenging" things were getting the boot attached to the drum area and removing/reattaching the spring+cable around the boot seal. The total time also includes cleaning the inside of the washer and using some anti-rust jelly on the top panel near the detergent door. Washer is working great now. Frederick E Niceville , FL July 01, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Washer- Horizontal Axis MAH5500BWW Door boot seal moldy on front load washer Ordered boot seal from AppliancePartsPro.com and received it in a couple of days. Followed 'Repair' video on same website which was very helpful and thorough. Made replacement look easy. Did encounter same issue that others had with the stainless steel cable retainer and strong tension spring. Found that the seal slipped slipped off the lip of the plastic panel often as it needed to be stretched a bit to fit. Connecting the tension spring took two adults to complete. What was omitted in the John's excellent video was the importance of positioning the rubber seal by precisely placing the small 12 O'clock index tab on the seal directly centered at 12 O'clock on the plastic panel. Once the cable retainer and spring are joined, you can't rotate the rubber seal to correctly align the seal's rubber tabs when pushing them into their respective slots on the outer plastic front panel.
