How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094183 / 279570 Door Latch Kit

Replaced moisture sensor bars. (Also replaced the door latch kit while I was at it.) 

Tried another non-OEM pair of latches that said they were compatible with my model of dryer, but the door still would not latch correctly. Found this latch kit that was color coded for a variety of different models, but had specific instructions on where they should be installed, my model had a top and bottom latch so I needed the blue and green ones and per the directions they needed to be installed per the directions, I believe they might have different closing strengths. Anyway I installed them and the door was good as new..no more tape needed to keep the door shut..

I ordered and changed out the dryer door latch kit; dryer door switch; two clips for the front to hold the panel on; and light bulb in back 

I ordered this OEM door hinge and the latch kit. Then watched the videos regarding installation of both. Hinge was pretty straightforward but latch replacement would have been tricky without tips from it. Door now closes nice and tight and works properly. I should be good now for another 18 years ! Lol ! 

Ordered the replacement part online. The install was super easy, about 5 minutes to pull the old latch out and put the new one in. My residents at Midtown Apartments were excited that they no longer had to put a heavy chair against the dryer door to keep it shut!

We have a very old propane dryer that works very well. The catch that holds the door closed during drying broke into pieces. I had difficulty finding the part on other sites.
