How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4242494 / LA-1044 Dryer Heating Element Kit

Installed new element. 

I opened the dryer from the top by using a flat head screw driver and flipped the panel lid over I located the high and low limit switches and checked them for continuity by shooting some ohm's and they were fine. So I then shot some ohms through the heater element and that was were my problem was located. I ordered a new heater element and it arrived the next day, installed and all is well. 

Ordered part. Exact match to the original equipment. Only took a couple minutes to replace. 

Watching a video on you Tube how to replace the Heater. It looked easy ,the only difference was that my dryer opened from the top not the back. I took a Picher of the heater element so I would remember witch wire go's ,removed the heating element and fuse, went to AppliancePartsPros.com ,found the right Heating Element Kit witch came with the Fuse and was on sale. I got the Parts within 2 days and it took 10 Min to install. My old Dryer works as good as ever. 

Lifted the top, it was located in the left corner on top. 

Order correct party with ur customer service help. The hardest was finding the screw driver I dripped down in dryer. This model u just pop top off and the hinges hold it and the element is on top left. Very easy. 

Started with trouble-shooting. Found bad thermostat. Replaced thermostat and while I was in there decided to replace heating element too, since the dryer is about 15 years old. 

Installed heating element and limit switch. Took about 15 minutes. 

New heating element and thermostat 

Replaced heating element and thermostat. Works GREAT! :)
