How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6024120 / WPY04000048 Element, Broil

I found the part on a web search at AppliancePartsPros.com and ordered it on a Sunday and had it Tuesday afternoon. Incredible. I removed the old element (having already turned off the circuit breaker to the oven), making sure I secured the lines from slipping back though the opening at the back of the oven, connected up the new element and then screwed all the brackets in place. Incredibly easy. Only issue being that when I turned it on to test it, smoke filled the oven and I freaked. Turned it off and checked as best I could behind the oven and no fire. While waiting to make sure no fire developed, I looked up on line the situation and learned that "product coating" caused this and it is to be expected with any new heating element when its used the first time as the coating burns off. Next day I fired her up and no problems, Awesome. 

Replaced broiler element. Total of 4 phillip head screws to pull element out and one on element. Push on "flag " connectors on two of the connections. Pinched the connector a little to mame a tighter connection. About 15 minutes job 

Ordered a new element. Received it on Monday. Husband and I installed it on Wednesday. We are so impressed with how quickly we got the part! Thank you. 

I was able to find an exact replacement part on this site. I was worried because it was difficult to match up the model number of the oven because it was so old. I was able to determine, by looking at the images on the website, that a replacement part might be possible. I looked through a list of corresponding appliance model numbers and determined that the model number for my oven was listed as W110 rather than WI-10 (which is what is listed on my oven door). I order the part at 4:00 PM and had it shipped with standard shipping. I had it in my hands by 8:00 the following morning!!! I have NEVER had anything shipped so fast to me in my entire life!!! While the repair seemed simple enough, I watched the installation video on the website just to make sure I didn't do anything wrong. I'm glad I did because it saved me from a couple of potential headaches, such a wrapping the wires coming from the back of the oven with twisty ties to keep them from sliding back into the oven. The repair took about 20 minutes and the broiler works great! 

Found the Model # for the oven, found the oven and part # online. It arrived the next day. There are screws holding a bracket and a hook, just pay attention to the order you take them out. There are two electric leads and a ground, replace them like they were on the old part. 

At first, I went to my local hardware store. This being a very small town, it didn't surprise me that they didn't have the right element. Oh sure, they found it in their "book", but it was going to cost half an arm to order and it was going to take ten days to arrive. Knowing my wife wouldn't be overly happy with that, I sat at my computer and started checking the internet. AppliancePartsPros.com had my element for almost half the price, plus shipping was fast and a lot less than my hardware store wanted. Needless to say, I'm happy with the results. More importantly, my wife is happy too. Don't ever forget the old saying, "If momma ain't happy, then no one is happy!" 

Replaced it with the new element shipped to my home. I was amazed at how quickly it arrived. Great job! The repair job should have been a walk in the park, but the very short wires in the oven made it more challenging. Thank goodness I didn't have to take the oven out and access the wiring from the back panel. 

Followed instructions on AppliancePartsPros.com and You Tube and repair was pretty straight foward. 

Ordered a new element from AppliancePartsPro. Part was delivered very quickly. Relaced part and now my wife is happy.
