How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6030109 / W10823709 Surface Heating Element

Ordered new burner and replaced old burner 20 mins later I was in working order, thanks to you I reciie new part in two days before Christmas company. 

Although the part didn't come with instructions, it was easy to replace, just by exchanging the wires one at a time.

I removed the cooktop, fliped it over, removed two screws, four wires, and replaced the top. I had a little trouble troubleshoting the problem. I had to realize that heating elents offer resistance and do not read 0 ohms like a normal closed circuit. After that it was smooth sailing and one happy wife:) 

We were able to diagnose the problem between the switch and the electric burner with the help of one of the customer service professionals at Appliance Parts Pros. The electric burner part that they sent worked perfectly and it was great to be able to replace kit ourselves. What a cost savings. Thanks! 

Removed top, removed old unit noting where and how wires were connected and anchoring screws were located. New part was almost exactly the same as the old. Connecting wires to new unit was easy as I followed the diagram I had made. Turned it on after the installation was finished and it worked.
