How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005519 / WP12656018 End Cap, Pantry (Rh)

Although I had previously replaced the left-side support, I found the quick video a helpful reminder. It all made the task very easy and very quick. 

Watched the video. The video was exactly for the part that I ordered and was very easy to follow. Had no surprises. Highly recommend! 

Actually I fixed the original hinge pin with Gorilla Glue and splines made up of an old plastic credit card and a paper clip. I bought the original part, nevertheless to hold as a spare in case my repair fails.To carry out the repair, I did take the end cap off and reassembled it. The RH side end cap is harder than the left side. Don't try this without reviewing the U Tube video which specifically address' the RH side.I could only find one Video on U Tube for Rt. side ,but it is a good one. The RH side is a much harder repair because it contains a control for cold air. This is made up of several plastic pieces. The control parts are not included with the end cap. These fragile plastic parts have to be removed from the original cap and installed in the new cap before final assembly. If the control arm is broken, the end cap can be installed without it without significant change in performance. Because of all of the above, this is considered a difficult repair requiring at least an hour or more. One last hint. After the repair is complete, when using the pantry drawer, pull the drawer out at the indent in the drawer itself. If repair is correct, lid will come up and open automatically Don't lift the lid directly. If lid is overextended, hinge pin will break again. 

I orderd the part using your helpful guide, and installed it myself. FIXED - DONE 

Ordered 2 sides with new plastic tips. Then I replaced each side and drawer lip worked again 

I went on-line to view the parts diagram and found that the parts were pretty easy to remove and install so I searched parts sites for cost, availability and reviews. Hands down Appliance Parts Pros was a clear choice. I spoke to a rep via their online live chat. Couldn’t have been nicer and extremely helpful. Ordered the parts and everything came exactly as ordered and quickly. The communication for order confirmation and shipping progress was excellent. Highest price for this company. Shop no more just use them, you will not regret it! 

Replaced the broken part 

Ordered the replacement part by entering the model number on your website. Removed all necessary pieces, and reassembled with the replacement piece. Took photos along the way to assure all steps were followed. 

Took out deli drawer (lid was out already due to broken tab), and shelf glass and tracks above it. Removed rear screw to the center air flow contraption behind the deli drawer. Removed 2 screws from the sliding rail. Removed 3 screws that held the end cap part in place. Removed the lever system from the old part that opens and closes the air vent behind the deli drawer noting the setup. The tabs on the arms of the lever slide though the slots if you turn them to line up. Attached the lever system to new part. Screwed the new end cap in place with 3 screws and connected the lever system to the center vent. reattached the sliding rail with 2 screws. Placed the tracks and top glass above. Re-inserted the deli drawer. Re-attached the deli drawer lid by placing the right hole into the tab, then bending left tab slightly out so the tab would go into the hole.
