How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6004794 / W10874836 Pantry Endcap Kit

I first read some threads on the topic and figured out it was probably the ice maker. I found the part cheaper somewhere else but if it wasn't the problem I couldn't return it. I figured it was worth a little extra money to be able to return it if I was wrong and it was something else. I ordered the part watched the tutorial on YouTube , and replaced it. The only trouble I had was getting the wire harness to stay to the side to get the ice maker back in. I finally taped it down. I fixed it! I hate paying for service calls and outrageous service repairs. It is working beautifully. Thanks. Easy to do. My husband is super happy to say , his wife fixed it! 

I. Removed the broken track and installed the new one. Pretty simple! 

Very easy to install. Only needed a phillips and nut driver. I cleaned out the fridge and he out it back together in ~20 minutes. Easy and we did it with no arguments. 

Parts showed up within a few days as promised, well packed and no damage. I removed vegetable and fruit drawers, glass shelf and supports (lift straight up), removed deli drawer by pulling straight out and then lifting, removed two screws with a nut driver on broken right side end cap and removed end cap. Carefully remove temperature control from back of fridge. Removed temperature controls from end cap by twisting out of the slots then popping out the temperature knob (may need a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry tab). Removed deli drawer slide from end cap by removing two screws with the same nut driver. Installation is strait forward and exact opposite. Just take a second to see where the temperature control tabs slide into in the back of the fridge. Deli lid pops into place onto the small tabs on either side end cap. Refrigerator is like brand new! Will definatately order again!

I tried super glue and gorilla glue. Neither worked. Thankfully found AppliancePartsPros.com and easily found my fridge and the diagram of the drawer with the missing pin. After looking up what others said about that piece I was certain it was what I needed. Received it in 2 days and hubby had it installed in 15 minutes and my fridge is good as new!! 

I looked online for a replacement part. AppliancePartsPro had the best offer. Took out the vegetable and fruit drawers. Took off the drawer lid from the lower drawer. Took out the lower drawer. Took out the glass shelf and supports. Removed two screws that held the endcap to the left side. Removed two screws that held the drawer support to the endcap. Then reversed the process. Attached the drawer support to the new part. Attached the new part to the left side of the refrigerator. Replaced the drawer lid (at this point easy access to the tabs that hold the lid). Put the shelf supports and shelf back on top of the end caps. Replaced the vegetable and fruit drawers. Replaced the lower drawer. Done P.S. Cleaned all the drawers and shelf. Took about 30 to 40 minutes. 

I removed the meat keeper drawer and the vegie drawer and other hardware to gain access to the end cap. I used a nut driver to remove the two screws holding the end cap. The nest step was to disconnect the temperature control. Then it was easy to transfer the drawer slide and the temperature control slide to the new end cap. The rest was easy to reinstall the end cap and the rest of the hardware, in reverse order. 

First, I'm from a science background...not mechanical. I can't fix anything! However, with the help of an on-line chat with a great tech (Steven?) who walked me thru the whole process of identifying part I needed all the way thru ordering the part, I now feel like a genius! This was a great experience that saved me a lot of $$$. Thank you, thank you!
