The most difficult aspect of repairing an appliance is diagnosing the problem. The dishwasher was draining properly and cycling properly. I went online to see what the common causes of the problem could be and determined it was likely a clogged motor pump filter which is located underneath the machine and that it could be easily removed and cleaned. The machine had to be pulled out from cabinet enclosure and the drain land water lines disconnected. Machine had to be placed on its back. Pump filter assembly was easy to remove. The metal filter inside it could not be cleaned because it was essentially shredded. Comments I read on AppliancePartsPros had similar experiences. The damage is likely caused by broken glass or plastic that gets past the smaller filter inside machine. Fortunately, the entire filter pump assembly was available, and I had it delivered the next day without additional shipping charges.
This repair could easily be several hundred dollars in labor charges had I called a repair company. A new comparable dishwasher is over $1,000.00.
