How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013805 / WP9709511 Mixer Transmission Gasket

Replaced. 

Cleaned, replaced gear, bearings, gasket, clip. Replaced food grade grease, tested. 

Installed the new parts I ordered. 

Checked YouTube repair videos for steps to dismantle mixer. I went to your site to look at the parts diagram and ordered only needed parts. The parts were delivered within a couple of days. The mixer is working great now. Thanks. 

I watched several YouTube videos, including one on this site, to disassemble and repair the mixer transmissions. This only required a Phillips head screwdriver and a snap ring pliers. Also needed food-grade grease to replace old after cleaning up the transmission to determine what needed replacing. I repaired two models, KP26M1XPB5 and KG25H7XWH. They both had identical transmissions. 

Replaced per the video on the site. Didn't take off the motor shaft speed sensor, but just hung the motor controller off the back. Probably should have ordered the gear set (AP6286924) including the beveled accessory drive gear as that was a little worn as well. Video instructions were great. They don't mention that there is some play in the mounts of the worm gear once it's reinstalled with the bearing mounts in the proper orientation, but the unit worked well once repaired. It was worth buying a snap ring pliers (from Amazon) to take off the snap ring.. I had to take some fine sandpaper and sand down the drive shaft to get the new gears to slide on properly. I didn't really need the new gasket, but as long as I was in there I figured I'd replace it. I got too liberal with the grease during reassembly and it made a mess. I would suggest that you grease well anything which is going to be hidden prior to assembly, but then apply the extra gobs of grease to exposed gears once the unit is back together and you can rotate the motor shaft by hand to make sure all the teeth are well greased 

New clip and planetary 

Had 2 broken Kitchenaid 600 series pro stand mixers with broken worm follower gears. One had jammed and broken while relatively new, so only had to replace worm follower. 2nd one had just worn out. Worm follower teeth very thin all over until they stripped free. I also replaced the worm gear and fiber washer on planetary set, due to wear. Very simple mechanical fix, if a bit messy. I used Super Lube 41160 UV synthetic food grade grease from that big online retailer named after the South American river. By far the biggest time spent was cleaning out old grease/bits of gear teeth from gearcase.

First, I watched a video. Seemed easy enough. Then I took my KitchenAid Pro 600 apart and looked inside gear box. Exactly like video. So took apart and cleaned used parts. Bought new and had to take one quick look at parts sheet when they arrived and reassembled. Loaded with grease, cleaned it all up and gave it to church. Machine broke because I was using it for bread and the machine is really not intended for someone who makes a dozen loafs a week. So I purchased a KitchenAid Commercial unit and it works just fine.
